Willowglen Academy – New Jersey’s Group Homes, licensed by the Department Of Children And Family Services, provides strength-based treatment, interactive experiences, comfortable environments, and employs dedicated and engaged staff. The homes were originally opened on July 7, 2001 to serve children who were also developmentally disabled. Consistent with the philosophy of Willowglen Academy – New Jersey to provide a safe, healthy environment all staff are trained in approved and clinically relevant techniques to address cognitive/behavioral crises.


Emphasis is on skilled counseling and best practice clinical interventions that enable the residents to develop internal controls and encourage cognitive and emotional growth. Willowglen Academy - New Jersey is committed to addressing the individual needs and capabilities of each resident in the least restrictive environment possible.


Our Master's level clinicians are trained in the areas of individual and group therapeutic approaches enabling them to lead the multidisciplinary team. They perform their responsibilities in hands on fashion interacting with the consumers on the living units, during meals, and in the classroom settings. Residential child care workers, under the direction and supervision of the clinical staff, carry out activities of daily living, behavior management, supervision, crisis counseling, counseling on impulse control, problem solving, issues of adolescence, and basis relationship building as well as attending to the basic personal needs of the clients, Additionally staff are trained, as needed, in special interventions for designated clients needing more intense supervision and/or more directed treatment procedures.
